Attire: Please dress comfortably with sensible shoes, as we will provide opportunities to move around. Business attire is not required.

What you’ll need: Yourself, perhaps a notepad, and anything you need to feel comfortable. Laptops are not needed unless you would like to bring them. We will provide snacks and water/beverages galore, writing utensils, and things to write on.

• Learn & apply the KOAN method for breakthrough leadership
• Apply the VIABLE strategy model to leading transformation
• Practice leading organizations through transitions in a scenario exercise

8:30 – 9:00 AM

Arrive, connect, and get acclimated to the space before we begin.

Welcome and Connecting (teams meet together)

9:00 – 10:15 AM

Teams introduce themselves to one another. Peers connect through an activity.

Break

10:15 – 10:30 AM 

 

Team Alignment (teams meet separately)

10:30 – 12:00 PM

CEOs will hear updates from the Leadership Committee and Workgroups. We will use these updates to identify priorities to accomplish for the year.

Lunch (together)

12:00 – 1:00 PM 

Lunch will be catered at the Catalyst Ranch meeting space.

Introduction to the KOAN method: Breakthrough Leadership for a Divided World (teams meet together)

1:00 – 2:45 PM

Peers will explore how to become Breakthrough Leaders by leveraging the KOAN (Kind, Open, Adaptive, Network)
method. Peers will incorporate learnings into their work.

2:45 – 3:00 PM

 

Moving into Action: VIABLE Set-Up (teams meet together)

3:00 – 4:00 PM 

Peers will have an introduction to the VIABLE framework for strategic planning and leading transformation. This framework will be practiced in a case study on day 2.

Reflections, Wrap-up, and Adjourn (teams meet together)

4:00 – 4:30 PM

Peers will discuss next steps and key take-aways. Teams will be combined in dining groups. Dining groups will be given case study examples for tomorrow to review during dinner.

 

Dinner Groups (teams meet together in pre-assigned dining groups at local restaurants)

5:00 – 7:00 PM

Dining groups will select the case study they will use tomorrow.

Warm-up and Recap (teams meet together)

Peers will reflect on day one. Teams will set goals for day two. Peers will connect through an activity.

10:00 – 10:15 AM

 

Leading a VIABLE Transformation (teams meet together)

10:15 – 12:30 PM

Smaller combined groups assigned at the end of day 1 will gather to practice using VIABLE to lead organizations through transitions for their chosen scenario. Developing the plan includes identifying stakeholders, designing an approach, and anticipating implementation challenges. Groups will then present their plans to the full group.
